"I have had 9 Arrow do multiple jobs for me and they come through every time. This business operates with all the values you’d expect from a Central Texas, Family run company. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them for any of their services as they have gone above and beyond for me."

Ashley Cooke

"The Wheelock Family’s, 9 Arrow Land Service is the best. They cleared our 20 acres in Bulverde where Bulverde Market Day is held and did a great job! A year and a half later the land looks incredible. They are so easy to work with and have great communication (which is hard to find!)! They got the job done fast, and at a great rate considering the care and attention they took. Bonus, we got some custom merch when it was all said and done (my favorite yeti cup bc of their logo!)."

FAQs

You've got questions. We've got answers.

The pace depends on tree density, terrain, and the equipment being used. With reasonable tree coverage, our smaller machines typically clear ½ to 1 acre per day in an 8-hour workday. With our larger, high-horsepower machines built for higher production, we can clear 1 to 3 acres per day under similar conditions. Heavier density or difficult terrain may reduce pace, while more open areas may allow us to move faster.

Grass regrowth depends on how much mulch is left on the ground. In lighter mulching applications, grass can begin growing back within days, especially after rainfall. In heavier applications where mulch depth reaches up to 12 inches, it may take 2 to 3 years for grass to return in significant density. Both outcomes are normal and depend on project goals and finish preference.

We pride ourselves on a clean, finished appearance when a job is complete. Our preference is a fine finish, leaving small material often described as “toothpicks” or “hamster chips.” This type of finish is more visually appealing, easier to drive over, and allows grass to regrow more quickly than larger chunks or uneven debris.

No. There is no size limitation on the trees we can mulch. Larger trees simply take more time. A tree that may take an hour to mulch with a smaller machine can often be processed in as little as 15 minutes with our larger, high-horsepower equipment. The difference is production speed, not capability.

In Texas—especially Central Texas—trees are often stressed by drought. Oak wilt is also a major concern in our area and typically spreads in defined paths, affecting susceptible species quickly. Once a tree is infected, we do not have the ability to restore its health. In many cases, selective clearing is the best option to protect surrounding trees and manage the land responsibly.

Pricing depends on the scope of the project and the landowner’s preference. We can price projects hourly, daily, by the acre, or as a lump-sum bid. Ultimately, every estimate is based on how many hours it will take to clear a specific area. Key factors include tree density, tree size and species, topography, access, maneuverability, and soil conditions. Sandy soils typically slow production compared to hard-packed ground.

With forestry mulching, trees are mulched where they stand and root balls are intentionally left in place to maintain soil stability. Removing root balls can destabilize the soil. However, when projects require full removal—such as under future foundations—we have the capability to remove root balls using dozers or excavators. Root balls can then be mulched on site, which is our preferred method.

Yes. We have extensive experience mulching large brush piles, including piles created by bulldozers years earlier. Some piles are as large as a house. Instead of burning—which is often prohibited during burn bans—we grind the entire pile into mulch safely and efficiently.

As lifelong Texans, our owners have a deep appreciation for the natural landscape and native trees that make this land special. Properly cleared and maintained land is healthier, more valuable, and more enjoyable to own. We believe in responsible land stewardship. When we work on a property, we treat it as if it were our own, and we don’t consider a job finished unless we’re proud of the result. With proper maintenance, our work is designed to leave a legacy.
